Conway Public Schools’ Allison Bowsman was named the 2013 School Psychology Specialist of the Year at the Arkansas School Psychology Association conference.
"It was quite the honor this year at the school psychology conference with over 1,000 members to be nominated by her peers and selected as School Psychology Specialist of the state," said Charlotte Vann, director of special education with the district, at the Conway Public Schools Board of Education meeting Nov. 12.
Bowsman has been with the school district for eight years and is working at Ida Burns and Ellen Smith elementary schools this year.
"Allison goes so far beyond what we think of in terms of an everyday role — which is evaluation and observation — but she’s there to hold the hands of teachers, to hold the hands of parents and to stand beside the children who need her the most," Vann said.
