The tree was finished and ready for the festivities on time. The tree lighting is at 6 p.m. Streets are already closed downtown.
At 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Conway's Christmas tree was still under construction as workers continued to affix branches to the skeleton.
The evening festivities are expected to start at 4 p.m. with the tree lighting at 6 p.m.
Get Lit, LLC CEO Jason Hull said it has been a lot of work, but his team was going to finish it out in time for the evening's events.
"Every single person on our staff has put an unbelievable effort into this project," he said. "We don't quit until it is done."
Hull said Get Lit got the go-ahead from the city a little later than would have been ideal. City council voted to waive competitive bids and go with Get Lit at their regular meeting Aug. 27.
"For something like this there are a lot of logistics," Hull said.
There were also other projects ahead of Conway that had to be done in order.
Additionally, Conway's tree features a newer design that Hull described as being "more branchy."
The trees made by Get Lit do not try to emulate a natural tree, which could be patchy, but rather the "perfect image" of what everyone envisions when they think of a Christmas tree.
Hull said the Get Lit team will stay for the tree lighting and then head home after the time-consuming project is complete. Although it's exhausting, Hull said it is a very gratifying time of year.
"Most people don't get to actually make Christmas," he said.
