Boy Scout Troop 71, chartered by Conway First United Methodist Church, celebrated their recent achievements in a Court of Honor held at the church on Nov. 18.
Nine Scouts received rank advancements: Samuel Deierlein to the rank of Tenderfoot; Wyatt Toal to the ranks of Tenderfoot and Second Class; Daniel Tolleson to the ranks of Second Class and First Class; and Lewis Acord-Olds, Andrew Barr, Dilan Culley, Benjamin Deierlein, and Philip Roberts to the rank of First Class.
Ten Scouts received merit badges: David Ashley earned Archery and Lifesaving; Tyler Donoway earned Archery; Michael Fincher earned Personal Management; Cole Fowler earned Archery and Citizenship in the Community; Liam Hinchcliff earned Camping; Jarrell Imamura earned Fish and Wildlife and Fishing; Russell Jeffery earned Personal Fitness; Paden Sharp earned Music; Nickolas Stow earned Citizenship in the Community and Personal Management; and James Toal earned Public Speaking.
Troop Committee Member Carl Olds was awarded the beads signifying the completion of requirements for his Wood Badge, Scouting’s advanced leadership training program for adult leaders.
Troop 71 also presented tokens of appreciation to outgoing Scoutmaster Matt Hubbard, who is stepping down after two years of distinguished service to the troop, and installed James Barr as the troop’s new Scoutmaster.
