Entrepreneurs, educators and enthusiasts will be found this Saturday on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas.
Local businesses and nonprofits have teamed up to present BarCamp Conway. "BarCamp Conway is a participatory "un-conference" event geared toward information technology professionals, entrepreneurs, or others interested in business startups," according to the BarCamp press release.
BarCamp will cover anything the audience wants to hear. Individuals will give presentations ranging from something in their field of expertise to their hobby. The audience will then vote on which presentations they would like to attend. It is lecture democracy at its finest.
"The beauty of BarCamp is the agenda is set on the day of the event and chosen by the attendees. Past topics have focused on: Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla, Expression Engine, Other CMS’, Hacking, Ruby on Rails, PHP, iPhone Development, Marketing, video editing, technology solutions for non-profits, gadgets, software development, open source, closed source, web development and just about anything else," the press release said.
The event allows students to be exposed to a wide variety of topics and events. "BarCamp exposes students to cutting-edge content and provides them with an opportunity to interact with developers, designers and entrepreneurs," said Michael Hargis Interim Dean, at UCA College of Business.
BarCamp will be held April 12 at 8 a.m. at the UCA College of Business and the Center for Community and Economic Development.
Registration is now open for the Saturday session. Visit www.barcampconway.com to register and learn more.
