Central Baptist College will host the 24th annual CBC Mustang Classic Golf Tournament on Sept. 15 at Nutters Chapel Golf and Country Club. The tournament format will be a four-person scramble with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. A second session will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Spokesman Deanna Ott said, Usually we get close to 180 golfers. It’s a neat mix because we have a lot of golfers from our churches, a lot of people from the community. We have a lot of alumni that play. It’s really a big tournament."

The entry fee for the tournament is $100 per golfer or $400 per team and includes greens fees, golf cart, refreshments, a catered lunch and player’s gifts.

Proceeds from the tournament go toward funding scholarships for CBC students.

Ott said, "Something unique about our tournament is we have a really nice giveaway item for everyone that plays in the tournament, and we usually have gifts that are given by businesses in the community. We do an additional activity, a putting contest, run by the CBC golf team. They give away a putter to the winner. I think the community likes to see the golfers there. The coaches come out as well."

Smith Ford and Harwood, Ott & Fisher CPAs have teamed up to sponsor a 2015 Ford Mustang as a prize for making a hole-in-one on the 16th hole.

"It’s cool with us being the CBC Mustangs," Ott said.

Also, Garry Crockett of Conway will cook barbecue for lunch.

"It’s a lot of fun. Everybody comes out and has a good time and gets a day on the golf course," Ott said.

The deadline for players to register is Sept. 10. Sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses and individuals starting with hole sponsorships for $250. To learn more about sponsorships or player registration, email or call Jessica Sims at jsims@cbc.edu or 501-205-8870.
