Among reports recently released by the Conway Police Department: 

• Multiple motor vehicle theft at 1128 Harkrider Street (Riley Premier Motors).

At some point between Aug. 2 (Saturday) and Thursday a thief or thieves got into five vehicles and damaged or destroyed the ignition barrels trying to start and steal them. They managed to get away with two other vehicles, a light green 1996 Jeep Cherokee and a white 1998 Ford F-150.

• Commercial burglary at 1405 Lollie Road (Conway Corp. water treatment plant construction site).

At some point between 5:30 on Tuesday and 6 a.m. on Wednesday a thief or thieves got through the fence and apparently commandeered a wheelbarrow to steal two Hilti grinders, an electric leaf blower, two 48" fans, 1,000 feet of extension cords, an air compressor, a floor buffer and four Milwaukee hammer drills. Other pieces of equipment were damaged when the thief or thieves cut wires off them.

• Attempted commercial burglary at 245 Oak Street (Fred’s).

At some point late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning a thief or thieves tried to smash the pharmacy window with a landscaping rock. They broke the landscaping rock, but only managed to crack the window.

• DWI at 1500 Museum Road (Workforce Services office).

An officer responded to reports that a man had crashed his car into two vehicles and a motorcycle in the parking lot early Wednesday afternoon. The officer found the man waiting in the lobby, apparently intoxicated. The man gave his name, and told the officers that he had been drinking because it was his birthday, but that he hadn’t crashed into any cars. He was arrested on suspicion of DWI. While the officer was in the process of getting a warrant for a blood sample, the man stood up and was able to "jerk" his hand out of the handcuffs, according to the report. He was put in some new ones.

• Vehicle break-in at 1800 block of Foster Drive.

At some point late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning a thief or thieves got into the toolbox of a man’s truck and stole a Cobalt chop-saw, an air compressor and pneumatic nail gun for trim work, two toolbags with various woodworking tools, a Dewalt cordless drill/skillsaw/reciprocating saw and a length of steel chain.

• Vehicle break-in at 1000 block of Front Street.

At some point between Monday morning and Thursday afternoon a thief or thieves got into a man’s truck and stole a Kobalt mini ratchet set and the faceplate for the Sony XMP70 CD player. The thief or thieves also damaged or destroyed the ignition barrel in a witless attempt to steal the vehicle and broke the antenna on the man’s Motorola handheld radio for no sane reason.

• Shoplifting at 175 E. Oak Street (Raceway gas station).

At about 4:15 in the morning on Thursday two hooded thieves ran out the door with a case of soda.

• Harrassment at 1200 block of Clifton Street.

At some point between late Wednesday morning and early Thursday morning someone, for some reason, put spaghetti on a woman’s car. There was no explanation for the spaghetti.
