Sam Houston State completed an undefeated run to the Southland Conference tournament championship and won its eighth straight game Saturday night with a 9-4 victory over the University of Central Arkansas at Constellation Field at Sugar Land, Texas.

The Bearkats (41-20), who were swept by the Bears in the three-game, regular-season series, ended the Bears' season at 34-26.

Sam Houston was third-seeded in the SLC tourney but gained the automatic NCAA bid and will await its regional pairing Monday.

UCA was playing in its third SLC championship game in five years.

Sam Houston starter Dakota Mills allowed three hits and struck out five in 5.2 innings. Justin McCarty broke open a perfect game with a home run in the fourth. Ty Tice took the loss for for UCA.

Brooks Balisteri, Keaton Presley, Eddie Sanchez and Brandon Hagerla were named to the all-tournament.

Ty Tice took the loss for the Bears, who entered the game having won five of their last six.
