The Hendrix Warriors found out Saturday that the traditional bottom-feeder Sewanee Tigers have teeth.

Going into the fourth quarter at Sewanee, Tenn., the Warriors pulled to a 48-21 lead after scoring 27 straight points.

The Warriors (4-1, 2-1) held off a stirring rally by Sewanee (2-5, 1-2) for a 48-42 victory with the Tigers scoring with 41 seconds left.

The Warriors’ Miles Thompson completed 27 of 43 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns. Nate Hodapp had 144 yards on 12 receptions and three touchdowns. Greenbrier’s Michael Spainhour had a 2-yard TD reception.

Hendrix had 537 yards in offense to 486 for Sewanee.

Hodapp had TD receptions of 6, 15 and 29 yards. Thompson had scoring runs of 1 and 7 yards.

The Warriors return home Saturday to play Birmingham-Southern.
