Presenting a football/coaching carousel batch of "David’s Citations" for the interesting, weird and just plan zany in sports:

Symmetrical losses: The University of Central Arkansas football team began the season with a loss to the Kansas State Wildcats and ended it a loss to the New Hampshire Wildcats.

T-shirts that quickly became out of date: Before the NCAA FCS playoff game, UCA students were given T-shirts with coach Steve Campbell’s favorite saying: "The most important game is the next game because it is the next game." Campbell will no doubt use that phrase as the new coach at South Alabama.

Quality losses: Two of the Faulkner County teams to reach the state football quarterfinals were eliminated by state champions — Conway (by North Little Rock) and Mayflower (by Rivercrest). Mount Ida, which eliminated Conway Christian, has reached the 2A state championship game.

Best early slogan by a new coach: From Arkansas’ Chad Morris — "We’re going to get in the left lane and put the hammer down."

Hammer down and chopper up: Morris has recruited for SMU via helicopter.

Ugliest train wreck in the Smokies: The Tennessee football coaching search.

Best description of the wintry Army-Navy game: "It's like they were playing in a snow globe."

The deal maker: Eleven of the Southeastern Conference’s 14 football coaches have Jimmy Sexton as an agent. Sexton also is the the agent for many of the most prominent college football coaches.

Why have search committees? : Just call Sexton, give him a wish list and let him put everybody in the mix and connect the dots.

Presents under the tree: Coaching vacancies in December for agent Jimmy Sexton.

Classiest farewells: Former Arkansas coach Bret Bielema and his staff tweeting thank-yous and encouraging messages to the new coach, their former players and Razorback fans as the new regime takes over in Fayetteville.
