Private (PV2) Cole Markcum of Conway recently enlisted into the Arkansas Army National Guard and has earned education benefits valued at $50,420. He will attend Basic Training followed by Blackhawk/Chinook Helicopter Electrician training at Ft. Eustis, Va. Upon returning to Arkansas, PV2 Markcum will serve with Detachment 1, Bravo Company 449th Aviation Support Battalion at Camp Robinson. His step-grandfather and grandmother, Joseph and Sharon Harrison, reside in Conway.

Air Force Airman Christopher J. Roberson graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Roberson is the son of Brian and Kimberly Roberson of Conway.

He is a 2010 graduate of Conway Christian High School.

Air Force Staff Sgt. Reynaldo Perez Santiago has arrived for duty as an enlisted accessions recruiter assigned to the Air Force Recruiting Command at Ponce, Puerto Rico.

Perez Santiago has served in the military for six years.

He is the son of Reynaldo Perez Serrano of Conway, and grandson of Margarita Serrano of Ponce, Puerto Rico.

Perez Santiago graduated in 2005 from Mundys Mill High School, Jonesboro, Ga.
