Iva Marie Spruiell

Iva Marie Spruiell, 60, of Vilonia, went home to be sheltered in the arms of God after a brave battle with cancer on Monday, July 5, 2010.  

She was born on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 1949, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to the late J. D. and Willie Marie (Reasor) Spruiell.

Iva was a registered nurse whose career spanned nearly 30 years.  

A graduate of the University of Central Arkansas, she was employed by Conway Regional Hospital, Southwest Hospital, Rebsamen Regional Medical Center and most recently at St. Vincent Medical Center, North in Sherwood.  

Iva is described by her professional associates as a skilled compassionate nurse and a fierce patient advocate.

She is survived by her two best friends, daughter, Sara (Hooten) French and son, John Hooten, both of Vilonia; their father, Jimmie Hooten; and her other best friend, Lynette Spruiell; brothers, Ray Spruiell and Roger Spruiell of Vilonia, who were always by her side asking, "Sis, How can we help you?" and her brother, Paul Spruiell of Vilonia; the loves of her life were her five grandchildren, Emma, Noah and Rease French, and Max and Brady Hooten; their Tutu cherished every moment she shared with them; two nieces, Lori Marshall and Jodi Sullivan, both of Cabot, who were her "first girls;" and many other nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank her physician, Dr. John Price and also Dr. Issam Makhoul and the staff of UAMS.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway with Brother Bobby Stone officiating.  

Burial will follow at Vilonia Cemetery.  

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. tonight.
