Tony Griffin Sherrod

Tony Griffin Sherrod, 41, of Conway, went to be with his family and friends in Heaven on Aug. 24, 2010, after a long, hard fight with colon cancer.  He was born Nov. 28, 1968, in Greenville, Miss., to the late Robert Sherrod and his mother, Laura Wyvonne Dryden of Maumelle.  He was also preceded in death by his other father, Kenneth Griffin.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Stone) Sherrod; sons, Alex and Griffin Sherrod; daughters, Mississippi of the home and Shay Sherrod of Russellville; his mother, Laura Wyvonne Dryden and husband Stan; brothers, David, Dana, Joe and Bucky Griffin, Mark Boutwell; sisters, Kristy Rauls, Misty Claussen, Ginger Brady, Shelley Rocconi and Mallorie D. Dryden; along with many dear friends of a lifetime. Tony was a 1992 graduate of UCA, receiving his Bachelor of Arts there.

Tony was an avid runner, bicyclist and swimmer. He participated and completed all Little Rock Marathons, numerous triathlons and the Ultimate Iron Man Competition. Tony loved to spend time with his family; and loved to travel and hunt.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Woodland Heights Baptist Church in Conway. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, with Joe, Bucky, David, Dana Griffin, Jody Gibson, Keith Lancaster and Rob Davis serving as pallbearers, under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway, (501) 327-7727.

The family requests memorials be made to the Faulkner County Library, the American Cancer Society or the Tony Sherrod Memorial Fund with Arvest Bank.
