The Rev. Michael J. Gebhart went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at age 98.   

He was born on March 24, 1912, in Chicago, Ill., to Walter and Katherine Gebhart.  

Michael was the oldest of nine children. 

He is survived by three sisters, Rose Gebhart Loewecke, Helen Gebhart and Marion Gebhart Battistoni, all of Illinois. In addition to his sisters, Michael is survived by his daughter, Miriam Rutledge (husband, Bob) and son, Dr. Joel Gebhart (wife, Carol). He has five grandchildren, Jeff Gebhart (wife, Vicki), Gary Gebhart (wife, Beth), Melissa Nowicki (husband, Craig), Glenn Rutledge (wife, Darla) and Patty Rutledge Long (husband, Randy Long). He is survived by 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.  

Gebhart was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God for more than 50 years. He pastored Bethesda Church in Chicago for eight years, Mont Clare Gospel Church, Chicago, 24 years; and Trinity Life Center, Las Vegas, Nev., 24 years. While serving in Las Vegas, Michael lost his beloved wife, Marian, after 49 years of marriage. He retired to Conway, in the year 2000.  

Pastor Gebhart was a beloved father, husband, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. His life has been an example of integrity, Christian love and service. He will be greatly missed.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Church Alive Highway 65 North in Conway.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Church.  

Burial will be Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at Irving Park Cemetery Chapel, 777 West Irving Road, Chicago, Ill., with the Rev. Randy Long officiating.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Church Alive 201 Skyline Drive, P.O. Box 1083 Conway, Ark., 72033.
