Homer Lee Strickland, 67, of Vilonia, died Feb. 24, 2011, at Conway Regional Medical Center after a yearlong battle with cancer.  

Mr. Strickland was born Dec. 31, 1943, to the late Cecil Leon Strickland and Louise Strickland in San Diego, Calif. 

He resided in Anchorage, Alaska, for more than 30 years prior to moving to Arkansas and retired from British Petroleum. He was an avid competitive accuracy shooter and gunsmith.

He is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Leon Strickland; his wife, Gail Strickland; and his daughter, Shawn Strickland.

He is survived by his mother, Louise Strickland of Ponte Verde, Fla.; his daughter, Tracy Gafner and her husband Steve of Vilonia; granddaughter, Mattison Gafner of Vilonia; one brother, C.L. Strickland and his wife Janet of Ponte Verde, Fla. 

As he requested, no service will be held.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
