Basketball: Richardson III, Son Of Former Arkansas Coach, Dead At 47

FAYETTEVILLE — Nolan “Notes” Richardson III, the son of former Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson, died in Tulsa on Sunday.
Richardson III, who was 47, was found dead in a chair by his wife in their Tulsa home around 3 p.m., according to a report from the Associated Press. The cause of death was not immediately released, but Tulsa police told the AP Richardson III’s death appeared to be from natural causes.
Richardson III worked as an assistant on his father’s staff at Arkansas, where the program won the national title in 1993-94. He also was a head coach at Tennessee State from 2000-02.
Arkansas basketball coach Mike Anderson, who also was an assistant at Arkansas under Richardson, described Richardson III as a “brother” Monday.
“The Razorback family is mourning the loss of Nolan Richardson III ‘Notes,’” Anderson said in the statement. “Just as Coach Richardson has been a father to me, Notes was just like a brother to me and it is with a very heavy heart that we are praying for and supporting the entire family right now. He will be missed dearly by all of his immediate and extended family.”
