SHREVEPORT, La. — The Hendrix College men’s soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to eight games with a 3-1 victory at Centenary College on Sunday afternoon.
Freshman forward Will Dunaway, making his first collegiate start, scored two goals for the Warriors (8-0-1) and senior defender Dylan Reed of Conway hit a penalty kick to lead the offensive attack.
The game remained 2-0 until the 86th minute the Gents’ (2-5) Brandon Heim scored on a pass from Gabriel Zahm. Hendrix senior midfielder Tresor Mukiza assisted Dunaway’s final goal of the game with 2:27 left to play to secure the win.
In the first match of the doubleheader, Centenary (3-3-1) defeated the Warriors (4-4), 2-1.
Centenary’s Madison Alexander scored in the 27th minute after a punt from keeper Brittany Dunn to give the Ladies a 1-0 lead. Hendrix tied the game in the 36th minute when senior forward Mel Roach scored her team-leading ninth goal with an assist from senior Rebecca Rahn, her eighth of the season, on a corner kick.
Freshman goalkeeper Rachel Zweig made five saves for Hendrix, while Dunn had one for Centenary.
