A new project by the Creative Sports Network can provide help for those sports fans wanting to relive the past.

CSN owner/president Mike Harrison said a Sports Classics series is scheduled to begin in January with a memorable game — ranging from local to state to national — from the past airing each day. According to Harrison, the game aired each day will correspond with a game that was also played on that date from a different year. The first will be the 1939 Rose Bowl on Jan. 1. In that game, USC and Duke matched up in Pasadena, Calif., on Jan. 1, 1939.

These classic games will air Monday through Friday at 1:06 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on weekends locally on KASR 92.7 FM. In the event there is a live game scheduled for that time, that day’s classic game would air immediately following the live game.

January’s schedule includes past college football bowl games, NFL playoffs, college basketball games — including several featuring the University of Central Arkansas, Hendrix and Arkansas — and old Conway High basketball games.

Harrison said the schedule of games should be available online at www.csnsports.com or www.kasr.com in the coming days.

Though next month’s lineup may already have been penciled in, games to air in future months can be controlled by listener request. Harrison said those who have a particular game they would like to hear may submit a request, and that game will be aired if the station has that game in its library as the games fall into the corresponding calendar dates.
