Hendrix senior defender Kevin Gregory of Georgetown, Texas, has been named the Southern Athletic Association’s Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

He contributed to a pair of shutouts and recorded a team save as the Warriors went 3-0 during the week. He helped Hendrix top Howard Payne 3-0 on Monday, limiting the Yellow Jackets to only four shots on goal. On Sunday, he secured a 1-0 win over UT Tyler, who received votes in last week’s Top 25 poll, with a team save in the 66th minute. Gregory earned Warrior Classic All-Tournament Team honors for his efforts.

Senior defender Maggie Despain of St. Louis, Mo., has been named the Southern Athletic Association’s Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. She scored two goals and recorded an assist as the Warriors opened Southern Athletic Association play with a pair of road wins. DesPain scored a goal and an added assist in a 5-0 win at Transylvania on Saturday. On Sunday, DesPain scored the game’s only goal in a 1-0 victory at Centre. This is the third time DesPain has won a conference player of the week award in her career.

LEDBETTER, Ky. — Senior Julia Roth shot a two-over 146 over the first two rounds of the Murray State Drake Creek Invitational on Monday to lead UCA to a one-stroke lead at Drake Creek Golf Club.

Roth had rounds of 74-72 to push UCA into the lead. Freshman Sarah Brown is tied for sixth place with rounds of 75-73-148, while junior Carly Dear is tied for 10th (78-71-149). Sophomore Malin Senneryd shot 79-77-156 and is in 28th place, with freshman Jamie Jaruvangsanti shot 82-82-164 and is tied for 46th.

Shafial Mason and Cody Gibson were recognized as the Missouri Valley Conference’s Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for soccer, the first time the Bears have won the either honor this season.

Mason, a midfielder/forward from New Holland, Jamaica, played an integral role in the Central Arkansas offense this week, contributing to both goals that the Bears scored in a win over Eastern Illinois. Gibson had five saves.
