Bears, Sugar Bears face Miss. contests

The University of Central Arkansas Bears and Sugar Bears will be in cities in Mississippi a short distance apart for basketball games Saturday.

The Sugar Bears (6-3) will seek their third straight victory when they take on Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. The game will begin at noon.

The Bears (4-4) will play Mississippi State at 2 p.m. in Mississippi Memorial Coliseum at Jackson.

Falcons win double-OT game

The Faulkner County Falcons defeated the Pulaski County Flames, 68-60, in double overtime at Central Baptist College on Thursday evening in homeschool basketball.

Carter Mayo led the Falcons with 28 points, including seven 3-pointers. Trent Wolf had 20 points and 13 rebounds. Hadan Phillips added five points and held Pulaski’s leading scorer to eight points. Grant Ragland added seven points and six assists. Colton Ferrell had eight rebound. Rounding out the scoring were Isaac Stanton and Mark Baker with 3 points each and Ferrell with two points.
