Victor Dukes has been named American Midwest Conference men’s basketball player of the week.
Dukes helped lead the Mustangs to wins over Ecclesia and a pair of AMC opponents, Williams Baptist and Freed-Hardeman on the week.
“ The way he rebounded, attacked the rim and played with toughness helped us win two big games," said CBC coach Chris Wright. "He has really learned what it means to work hard this year. He’s always been so naturally talented that he hasn’t had to have a great work ethic. We have really pushed, and to his credit, he has responded.”
Dukes averaged 20.7 points and 10 rebounds per game this week, including his seventh double-double of the season, a 20-point, 14-rebound effort in a 99-86 win over Williams Baptist. Dukes, whose seven double-doubles are second in the AMC, is third on the team in scoring at 15.2 ppg and leads the team in rebounding at 8.3 rpg.
