Conway's Lady Cats clinched the 7A Central's No. 1 seed in this week's state tournament and wrapped up a share of the conference championship in dominating fashion Friday night at Bryant.
The Lady Cats romped past Bryant, 63-30. They finished in a three-way tie with North Little Rock and Fort Smith Northside for the conference crown with 12-2 records and gained the top seed because of a tiebreaker.
The Lady Cats get a bye until the quarterfinals when they will play the Van Buren- Bryant winner at 4 p.m. Friday at North Little Rock.
Against Bryant, the conference's No. 5 seed, on Friday, Asiyha Smith led Conway with 19 points. Reagan Roetzel added 12 and Jadah Pickens 10.
The Conway boys claimed 7A Central's third seed after a 55-50 victory over Bryant.
The Wampus Cats (17-9, 8-6) will play Rogers Heritage in the first round at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at North Little Rock. The winner plays Sprngdale Har-Ber at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
A layup by Caleb London gave Conway a 53-50 lead then Christian Williams hit two free throw with 4.1 seconds left to wrap up the victory.
Despite 35 points from Vilonia's Paige Kelley, Farmington won the 5A-West girls title Friday with a 63-56 victory over the Lady Eagles in the championship game at Farmington.
The Lady Eagles enters this week's state tournament at Maumelle as the No. 2 seed and will play at 1 p.m. Thursday and 4 p.m. Friday if they win.
In the boys game for third place in the 5A West tournament at Farmington, Morrilton held off Greenbrier for a 49-47 victory.
The Panthers will be the No. 4 seed in the state tournament at Maumeille and will play at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and 8 p.m. Thursday in they win.
Boys teams from Guy-Perkins and Mount Vernon-Enola both were victorious in game Friday in the Region 1A-3 tourney at Greers Ferry.
Guy-Perkins defeated Maumelle Charter, 69-44. MV-Enola downed Wonderviewe, 75-65.
