Representatives from the Faulkner County Youth Shooting Sports (FCYSS) program placed high in the state BB gun competition.

The Faulkner team of Kendall Faulkner, Rebekah Faulkner, Faith Palmer, Anna Brock and Sarah Brock finished second overall.

The FCYSS Hawkeyes had two other teams place sixth and 20th among 30 teams.

Kendall Faulkner tied for first in the written exam, second in the prone position and second overall. He is the first person in the Hawkeye program history to win an individual award in state competition.

The team received a $700 gift card and travel expenses to the Daisy National BB Gun competition in July at Rogers.

The second-place team was coached by David Massey and Jade McDaniel. Additional coaches for the Hawkeyes were Andy Faulkner (head coach of the program), Keri Jo Davidson, Nick Massey and Julie Newsome.

The competitors, ages 8 to 15,  used an competition BB gun to shoot at a target at 5 meters with 10 shots each in the prone, standing, sitting and kneeling position. Each youth also took a 50-question written exam.
