Ole Miss (20-16) scored six runs in the second inning Tuesday on the way to a 9-3 victory over the University of Central Arkansas softball team (20-18) at Oxford, Miss.

Kailla Searcy (5-5) took the loss for Central Arkansas after allowing five runs on three hits in 1.1 innings of work.

UCA returns home this weekend to open a four-game homestand against SLC foe Lamar.

Conway soccer

Conway boys improved to 4-1 in 7A Central in soccer Tuesday with a 2-1 victory over Bryant.

Senior Ancelmo Orellana notched the first goal to put the Cats (10-1) up early.  After Conway gave up a tying goal in the second half, sophomore Parker Apicella beat the keeper with a last-minute shot to secure the win. 

Bryant defeated the CHS girls (11-2, 3-2), 2-0.

Both Conway teams play Friday at Fort Smith Southside.

 

UCA baseball

The University of Central Arkansas Bears (19-13) scored the game’s first nine runs Tuesday to down the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions 9-1 in non-conference action at the Torii Hunter Complex at Pine Bluff.

Senior lefthander Will Brand tossed one-hit ball for five innings to earn the victory.

Hunter Strong went 2 for 5 from the leadoff spot and had two RBI, as did Justin McCarty and Rigo Aguilar.

The Bears return home to host UT-Martin in a non-conference weekend series, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday.

Hendrix baseball

Hendrix's baseball team (12-21) scored three runs in the eighth and ninth innings Tuesday for a 6-5 victory over University of the Ozarks at Warrior Field.

Drew Judson and Ford Sherrington had two hits each for the Warriors.

CBC baseball

Texas A&M-Texarkana (27-12) defeated Central Baptist College (19-22) in baseball Tuesday, 13-6.

Dylan Crossley started for CBC, throwing 3.2 innings and allowing seven hits and six unearned runs, due o five Mustang errors, with two strikeouts, picking up the loss.

Trae BoBo led the way offensively, going four for four with a home run, while Brett Luna posted a pair of hits and a home run of his own.

CBC golf

Central Baptist golfers finished ninth Tuesday in the Hardscrabble Invitational at Fort Smith., shooting a three-round score of 79-over 919.

Colton Ryan, who started the final round in a tie for 16th , shot a final round 71 (+1) to finish witha total of 218 (+8) and in a tie for ninth place. Leyton Clark shot a final round 81 to finish with a score of 226,.

CBC will play in their final tuneup before the American Midwest Conference tournament

Monday and Tuesday at the Natural State Classic in Heber Springs.

CCS soccer

Both Conway Christian soccer teams claimed shutout victories Tuesday over Jacksonville Lighthouse.

The Lady Eagles won, 7-0. Rachel Ledbetter scored three goals in the first half and secured another goal in the second half. Kendra Lea also scored two goals in the first half and another goal in the second half.

The boys won, 3-0, with goals from David Belvardi, Jace Kramer, and Zain Corbett.
