Cheer Force Arkansas Restricted Level 5 Jayhawks out of Sonshine Academy took to Orlando, Florida, last weekend, and came back as second place finishers.

The team, ages range from 10 years to 14, received an at-large bid to attend the Orlando competition.

The competition was held at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex, where teams could receive one of three bids: a full-paid bid, a wild card bid and an at-large bid.

With an at-large bid, the team was able to skip day one and head straight to day two, where it faced five other teams.

The two wild card teams advanced, so in the end, the Jayhawks finished second out of nine teams.

However, about 1,300 teams competed at the competition.

“A majority of this team has been together for about four years,” coach Toya McLeod said. “We had an injury in the middle of the season, losing a girl to a torn ACL injury. We didn’t think finishing this well was on the radar until we started performing.”
