Four state baseball champions were crowned Saturday at the University of Central Arkansas’ Bear Stadium, two of the games decided in extra innings.

Class 3A: Jessieville (22-8), 9, Elkins (20-8) 1: Jessieville pitcher Mark Reyes, MVP, struck out 17 in the two-hitter.

Class 5A: Magnolia (21-6) 3, Greenwood (29-5) 2: Magnolia rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth, scoring what proved to be the winning run on a balk. MVP was Magnolia pitcher Landon Simpson.

Class 6A: Jacksonville (19-10) 6, Searcy (24-8) 5 (8 innings): The Red Devils scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game, they won it in the eighth. No team has overcome that big a deficit in the seventh to win a state title. Jacksonville pitcher/third baseman Jesse Harbin was the MVP.

Class 4A: Shiloh Christian (30-7) 4, Prairie Grove (18-7) 3 (8 innings): Shiloh shortstop/pitcher David Petrino was MVP of the tournament.


1 p.m.: Class 1A, Armorel vs. Viola

3:30 p.m.: Class 2A, Junction City vs. Parkers Chapel

6 p.m.: Class 7A, Conway vs. Bryant
