BRYANT — Two falls in the fourth quarter Tuesday night led to a fall by the Conway Wampus Cats against Bryant.
The Wampus Cats were dominating the boards and had led most of the game before senior post men Everett Reed and Xavier Clardy, Conway’s top inside players, both left the game early in the fourth quarter after hard falls to the floor.
The Hornets’ Bentley Cozart then sparked an 11-0 run that led to a 54-41 victory that gave Bryant (15-9, 6-5) sole possession of third place in the 7A/6A Central boys race. The Hornets outrebounded Conway, 9-4, in the fourth quarter.
The Cats, losing for the second time to Bryant this season, fell to 15-9, 5-6.
Cozart hit five of six free throws in the final period.
Tim Boyd led the Cats with 14 points.
In girls play, the Lady Hornets defeated the Lady Cats for the second time this season, 75-61.
Claire Hobbs led the Lady Cats (11-12, 3-8) with 21 points. Enjonae Chambers had 10,
Courtney Davidson led Bryant (14-11, 6-5) with 22 points, including 10 of 10 at the free-throw line. Dezarea Duckworth added 18 and Logan Davis 13.
Conway teams will host Van Buren on Friday night.
MORRILTON — Vilonia’s girls upped their 5A-West record to 8-3 Tuesday with a 47-29 victory over Morrilton.
The Lady Eagles (19-7 overall) extended a 22-14 halftime lead to 34-17 after three quarters.
Andrey Moran led Vilonia with 14 points. Lydia Gordon added 13 and six rebounds. Colleen Farris had eight points and Alaina Davis had five assists.
KT Davis led Morrilton with 11 points.
In boys play, Morrilton edged the Eagles (9-13, 4-7) 51-510. Tyrne Willis led the Devil Dogs with 15 points.
HARRISON — Greenbrier’s Lady Panthers ran their 5A-West record to 5-6 Tuesday night with a 58-53 victory over Harrison.
Ali Rowden scored 23 points for Greenbrier (11-13). Kailey Madden added 12 and Megan Nolen 11.
In boys play, Harrison got 27 from from Dalton Young on the way to a 60-52 victory over the Panthers.
LITTLE ROCK — Mayflower teams both recorded victories Tuesday night in the opening round of the 5-3A district tournament.
Dane Richardson scored 16 points to spark the Eagles to a 57-36 victory over Benton Harmony Grove.
The Lady Eagles got 15 points from Tierra Lasker on the way to a 50-21 romp over Episcopal Collegiate. Erica Croft added 12 points for Mayflower.
1A-5 North tournament
MOUNT VERNON — Academics Plus and Lisa Academy prevailed Tuesday night in the opening round of the 1A-5 North tournament hosted by Mount Vernon-Enola.
Jermine Johnson’s 3-point shot with 1.5 seconds left gave Academics Plus a 51-50 victory over Lisa Academy in the boys game.
Lisa Academy outscored Kipp Delta, 35-16 in the second half on the way to a 51-38 victory in the girls game.
Lisa Academy will play the MV-Enola girls at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals.
