SHENANDOAH, Texas — The Hendrix College women’s swimming team set school records and earned personal-best performances at the 2011 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships over the weekend at the Conroe ISD Natatorium.

The women’s team finished eighth overall with 248 team points. Trinity University won its eighth-straight SCAC title Saturday. Trinity, which has won 11 titles overall, scored 876 points. DePauw was runner-up with 817 points.

The Warriors set program records in the 400 and 800 freestyle relays, 100 and 200 backstroke, 500 and 1,000 freestyles, 50 backstroke and 200 individual medley.

Junio Vanessa Morris broke the 500 freestyle record with a 5:14.51 and finished ninth overall. Freshman Jo Claire Robertson also set a record in the 200 individual medley with a fifth-place finish at 2:12.75. The 400 medley relay team consisting of Robertson, sophomore Alanna Montgomery, sophomore Sheryl Burt and senior Sarah Feather took a seventh-place finish at 4:18.61.

Robertson set a B-Cut National Qualifying time and school record in the 100 backstroke. She touched the wall at 58.00 for a third-place finish. Robertson’s 50 split during the 200 medley relay also set a program mark at 28.10.

The Warriors’ 800 freestyle relay also grabbed a school record and sixth-place finish on Friday. Burt, Robertson, Feahter and Morris combined for an 8:04.0.

Morris started Saturday off by breaking the Warriors’ 1,000 freestyle record during a fifth-place effort in the 1,650 freestyle.  Morris’ 1,000 time was 10:50.54 and her 1,650 time was 18:03.73.

Robertson followed up her performance on Friday with another record-breaking swim in the 200 backstroke Saturday.  She posted a 2:05.64 for second place, just 2.10 behind first place. Her effort in the 200 backstroke was also a B-Cut National Qualifier.

Hendrix’s 400 freestyle relay team consisting of Robertson, Morris, Burt and Feather set another school record and finished seventh overall at 3:44.83.

Montgomery’s effort in the 200 breaststroke was an all-time personal best at 2:36.33, good for 14th place overall. Burt posted personal-best times with a 28.16 during her 50 butterfly split of the 200 medley relay. The preliminary times of 2:16.39 in the 200 backstroke and 1:05.42 in the 100 backstroke also marked personal bests for Burt.
