KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. — Behind a strong finish by sophomore Julia Roth, the University of Central Arkansas women’s golf team finished eighth in the 33-team Kiawah Island Intercollegiate that concluded Tuesday at Cougar Point.    

Roth, from Karlskrona, Sweden, shot rounds of 74-72-74 for a 4-over 220 and finished tied for seventh place overall. UCA shot rounds of 301-308-305 for a 914 total. Miami won the tournament at 888, followed by Campbell University (897), Florida International (901), Western Carolina (903), College of Charleston, Nebraska and University of Akron (910) and UCA (914).    

Behind Roth, freshman Carly Dear finished tied for 46th place at 76-77-78 — 31, while junior Gemma Hardie tied for 59th (82-76-76 — 34) along with junior Sara Hillman (74-83-77-234). Senior C.J. Bobbitt tied for 90th at 77-84-78 — 239.
