SAN ANTONIO, Texas. — Trinity University held Hendrix College to just four hits for a 10-2 win in Saturday’s opener and the Warriors stranded eight runners in an 8-5 loss in the nightcap at the Trinity Baseball Field.
Junior right-hander Ben Klimesh pitched a complete game victory in the first game. He scattered four hits over 7.0 innings and struck out six batters.
Junior right-hander Teddy Smoyer was pinned with his second loss of the year after allowing 11 hits and seven earned runs in 7.0 innings. Smoyer struck out seven batters and walked none.
Junior Nick Pappas was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and four RBI in the first game. Senior Kyle Felix was 3-for-3 at the plate with three doubles and three runs scored.
The Warriors had 13 hits in the second game, however, Hendrix went just 3-for-15 at the plate in RBI opportunities.
Collin Radack was 4-for-4 in the second game and first year Jacob Perschke added a 3-of-4 performance. First year left-hander Nick Richardson started on the hill for Hendrix and suffered his first loss of the year.
The two teams will wrap up the three-game set on Sunday with a nine-inning contest at 1 p.m. CST.
