Three University of Central Arkansas track athletes have been selected for the NCAA Division I Track and Field West Regional to be held at historic Hayward Field in Euguene, Ore., May 26-28. Senior Donavan Loring will compete in the triple jump, junior Jaron Criswell will compete in the long jump and junior James Anderson will be in the high jump. If they emerge from the preliminary rounds, the trio of Bears could advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa held June 8-11. Loring, from Little Rock, holds UCA’s triple jump record of 51-8 1/2, set at the Ole Miss Invitational on April 9. He jumped 15.38 meters at last week’s Southland Conference Championships, earning all-conference honors with a third place finish. Loring won the Division I Independent National Championship as a freshman in 2007. Criswell, of Fort Smith, won the Southland Conference Outdoor Championship with a long jump of 24-9 1/4. He holds UCA’s record with a 25-foot jump in May 2010. Anderson, from Beebe, broke the Bears’ high jump record on April 2 at the UCA Invitational with a mark of 6-11 3/4. That mark is tied for the second-best in the Southland this season.
