Junior middle blocker Melissa Clement pounded out 20 kills to lead the Hendrix College volleyball team to a 25-19, 23-25, 25-18, 25-18 win at Central Baptist College in A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse on Thursday.
It was the second 20-kill match of the season for the Rogers native and the 11th straight match she recorded double-digit kills.
The Warriors (8-6) split with the Lady Mustangs (5-10) the first two sets. Up 5-2 in the third set, Hendrix went on a 10-0 run, which included five kills from Clement, to go up 15-2 and take control of the match. The Warriors went on to win the last two sets 25-18.
Hendrix outhit CBC .240 to .101 and had a 49-37 kills advantage. The Warriors also had eight blocks, 12 aces and 71 digs.
Clement also hit .412 and had four block assists. Sophomore middle blocker Alyssa Jaksich had nine kills, hit .571 and four block assists. Sophomore setter Zoe Calhoun registered 40 assists, three aces and a team-best 14 digs. Senior Jennifer Youngblood added 11 digs.
Tasha Davis led CBC with nine kills, and Ajax Simpson had 18 digs. The Warriors will open Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday in Sewanee, Tenn.
