Southern Arkansas and Lyon were no match for the UCA softball team as the Sugar Bears ran to victories of 10-3 and 8-0, respectively, Saturday afternoon at Farris Field. 

Junior Kelsie Armstrong earned the victory for UCA in the 10-3 win over the Lady Muleriders. The Hot Springs native tossed 4.2 innings, allowed just two hits and struck out five. 

Armstrong was actually relieved in the top half of the fourth inning, but came back in to close out the seventh. 

Kelley Martino worked 1.1 innings in relief and allowed one run on four hits. Kristen Johnson worked the sixth inning and SAU was able to churn out two runs on four hits. 

Offensively, senior Katie McGregor led UCA, going 3-for-4 with a pair of long balls and four RBI. Melissa Bryant chipped in two hits, including a double and 2 RBI. The 2011 Southland Hitter of the Year Melanie Bryant was also 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. 

Against Lyon, Tiffany Roby was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run and 2 RBI. Melissa Bryant earned three more hits and had an RB I to help lead UCA to the 8-0 triumph. 

Cami Newsome earned the victory in the contest, working four innings and allowing just two hits while fanning eight. Cicely New and Taylor Barclay combined to throw three perfect innings in relief to close out the game. 

UCA will resume their fall exhibition season on Wednesday when they host Seminole State at 5 p.m.
