Senior pitcher Cami Newsome struck out six Seminole State hitters and surrendered just two hits over 6.1 shutout innings, leading her team to a 3-0 victory Wednesday evening at Farris Field.

UCA struck early in the first inning as Kasey Britt hit a one-out single and scored on a Melissa Bryant triple. Bryant scored from third on a sacrifice fly to center by Melanie Bryant.

The Sugar Bears then worked the bases full in the second inning and scored their third and final run when Taylor Dear drew a walk.

That was all the offense Newsome needed as she took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before the Trojans recorded their first hit of the evening. Freshman Taylor Barclay came on in the seventh and pitched the final two outs to earn the save.

UCA returns to action Thursday evening for a pair of games. The Sugar Bears will host Texarkana College at 5 p.m. before facing Central Baptist at 7 p.m.
