Freshman outside hitter Scout Brooks has been named the Southland Conference Offensive Volleyball player of the week.

The Brenham, Texas native was strong in Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Lamar, as she recorded a career-high 23 kills while hitting .391. Last Thursday in the 3-2 victory over McNeese State, Brooks added another 10 kills while also recording two total blocks.

Brooks, who has missed a majority of the season rehabbing an injury, averages 3.28 kills per game since returning to the team in an Oct. 4 match against UAPB.

Brooks joins senior defensive specialist as the only other Sugar Bear to garner player of the week honors this year. Curl was named defensive player of the week by the league’s office for the week of Oct. 3.
