The Hendrix College volleyball team ended their Southern College Athletic Conference scheduled with a three-set loss to Rhodes College at Grove Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon.
The Warriors (14-17, 5-9) will be the eighth seed at the 2011 SCAC Tournament held in Jackson, Miss. on Nov. 4-5. The five conference wins matches the most in program history, set in 2005.
The visiting Lynx (11-19, 4-10) outhit the Warriors .337 to .137 and had 42 kills, while Hendrix only mustered 21. Rhodes also served up 16 aces, compared to two for Hendrix.
Sophomore middle blocker Alyssa Jaksich and junior Melissa Clement each had six kills. Senior setter Ashley Skinner had 15 assists and freshman libero Ella Concavage-Nasar came up with six digs.
Before the match the Warriors honored the three seniors — Skinner, Francis Bowen and Jennifer Youngblood.
Hendrix will travel to Arkansas-Monticello on Thursday night, then host Bacone on Saturday for the regular season finale.
The Hendrix College volleyball lost both matches via sweep at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Central Intradivisional on Saturday at Grove Gymnasium. The host Warriors (14-16, 5-8) lost to NO. 13 Colorado College 25-12, 25-11, 25-19 then fell to Millsaps 25-12, 25-15, 25-17.
Junior middle blocker Melissa Clement led the Warriors with six kills and three block assists in the opener and sophomore outside hitter Katie Burchfield had nine digs. Laura Goldsmith paced the Tigers with 11 kills and Hannah Varnell recorded 11 digs.
In the nightcap, the Majors (15-10, 8-5) hit .331 with 51 kills, while the Warriors hit .161 with 31 kills.
Junior right side hitter Katie Bates led Hendrix with 10 kills and hit .381. Sophomore setter Zoe Calhoun had 25 assists. On defense, freshman Ella Concavage-Nasar led all players with 19 digs and freshman Jasmine Johnson added 13.
