The Hendrix College swimming team placed ninth at the 44th annual Hendrix Classic at Bob Courtway Pool on Friday night.
For the women’s squad, sophomore Jo Claire Robertson finished second in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:11.59 and was eighth in the 200 individual medley in 2:19.34. Freshman Sydney Haldeman took 11th in the 50 freestyle in 26.54 and finished 12th in the 200 butterfly in 2:29.45.
Freshman Laura Price swam the 500 freestyle in 6:01.89, finishing 14th, and the 200 freestyle in 2:10.08, placing 15th. Junior Alanna Montgomery was 12th with a time of 2:45.11 in the 200 breaststroke and 17th in the 100 freestyle in 1:03.99. Senior Vanessa Morris finished 15th in the 1,000 freestyle in 11:23.15.
The 4x100 medley relay team of Robertson, Montgomery, Haldeman and Morris finished eighth in 4:20.37. Price, along with Taylor Keplin, Ava Commissariat and Kaia Duke finished ninth in the 4x100 freestyle relay in 4:19.29.
For the men, sophomore Matthew Larson finished 11th in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 11:22.54 and was 13th in the 500 freestyle in 5:27.83. Junior Justin Flanagan swam the 200 butterfly in 2:13.62, placing 12th, and was 15th in the 200 IM in 2:18.02. Freshman Joseph Schmits took 13th in the 100 freestyle in 56.27. Senior Alex Koeppel was 15th in the 50 freestyle (27.98 sec.) and in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:58.27).
Larson, Flanagan, Schmits and Koeppel finished 11th in the 4x100 yard freestyle relay in 3:54.45.
Oklahoma Baptist won the meet with a combined score of 792 points. They were followed by Ouachita Baptist (741), Centenary (568), UT Permian Basin (528), Sewanee (350), Arkansas-Little Rock (307), Rhodes (257), McMurry (251) and Hendrix (146).
