SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The Hendrix College baseball opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a pair of road losses to No. 22 Trinity University on Sunday.

The host Tigers (9-1, 2-0)  took the seven-inning opener 7-2, then executed a 10-0 seven-inning run mercy rule in game two.

In the first game, TU starter Ben Klimesh (4-0) threw a complete game, striking out nine while allowing three hits, two runs and three walks. Senior Geoff Lomax (1-2) struck out three and allowed six hits, seven runs and walked two in six innings for the Warriors (3-5, 0-2).

Hendrix took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when Aaron Bowen drew a walk, stole second and was doubled in by Nathan Harr. The Tigers answered with a three-run third inning on a run-scoring single from Christian Muscarello and a two-run double by Nick Pappas.

 Austin Womack hit a two-out single in the top of the fifth and scored on a triple down the right field line by  Clark Sims to cut the lead to 3-2. TU's  Kelly Woodruff hit a solo home run to lead the bottom of the fifth off to make the game 4-2. The Tigers tacked on three more in the sixth, including a two-run homer by Kevin Clements.

In the second game, the Tigers outhit the Warriors 9-3. Ryan Lucero (3-0) threw a three-hit, two-walk, four-strikeout shutout for the Tigers. Sophomore Thomas Weber (0-2) suffered the loss for the Warriors, lasting just two innings.

Hendrix will play at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark. on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
