In its 2012 season opener, the Hendrix College lacrosse team lost to Carthage College 7-1 at Warrior Field on Friday afternoon.
The visiting Red Men (1-0) outshot the Warriors 30-10.
Carthage got on the board at the 10:30 mark in the first quarter when Danny Morse found the net, the first of three goals for the afternoon. Chris Kochajikewicz added another goal 1:15 later. Hendrix sophomore midfielder Cameron Millstone cut the lead to 2-1 at the 8:44 mark in the first after a pass from freshman attacker Charles Hotchkiss. Morse scored his second goal of the day with 10:14 left in the second, to give the Red Men a 3-1 lead at halftime.
Cory Childs scored a goal in the third for Carthage and the Red Men added three more in the fourth for the final tally. Morse completed the hat trick with a score at 13:33 left in the final quarter. Keegan Bowman recorded two points with a goal and assist.
Millstone took five shots to lead the Warriors and had a team-high six ground balls. Senior goalkeeper Keith Clemens stopped 18 shots for Hendrix. Dylan Delaney led Carthage with seven ground balls and keeper Spencer Curley had three saves.
The Warriors will be back in action on Sunday when they host Mount Ida at noon.
