OXFORD, Miss. _  The University of Central Arkansas men recorded 13 top-10 finishes Saturday at the Ole Miss Invitational track and field meet, including an individual victory by senior Sage Raphael in the 400 meters.

UCA’s women placed 10 in the Top 10, led by a third-place finish in the 4x100 relay.

Raphael led the field in the 400 with the fifth-best time in school history at 46.54, beating out Arkansas State’s Joseph Meyer (47.01). UCA had two others in the Top 10, including freshmen Chance Tanner in eighth (48.36) and Kelton Ray in 10th (48.69).

UCA placed two in the top-10 in the long jump as Jaron Criswell placed third with a jump of 7.11 meters and Derrick Steele was eighth at 6.78 meters. Steele was also eighth in the triple jump at 14.29 meters.

Senior Demarcus Harrison was fifth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 52.81, while sophomore Benjamin Gerber finished sixth and set a school record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:53.71. Senior James Anderson was sixth in the high jump at 2.00 meters and junior Daniel Reece tied for ninth in the pole vault at 4.55 meters.

UCA’s women ran the 4x100 relay in 46.63 for third place and were also seventh in the 4x400 relay in a time of 3:52.34.

Sophomore Courtney Efurd set a school record in the 1,500 meters at 4:42.87, finishing 13th.Freshman Jean Black was seventh in the 400 hurdles in a school-record time of 1:03.80.

Sophomore Jasmine Ellis had two top-10 finishes, eighth in the 100 hurdles (14.42) and 10th in the javelin (35.74 meters). Sophomore Tanesha Maxwell finished ninth in the 100 meters (12.01) and 10th in the 200 meters (24.90), the second-best time in school history.

Sophomore McKinley Rea of Conway tied for 10th in the pole vault at 3.3 meters, while sophomore April Martin was 10th in the triple jump (11.21 meters).
