EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon took a straight-set victory over the University of Central Arkansas volleyball team Saturday at the Oregon Invitational.

The Duck handed the Sugar Bears their second straight loss with a 25-19, 25-13, 25-16 victory.

Against Illinois State on Friday, the Sugar Bears lost, 25-18, 22-25, 25-16, 25-20.

Heather Schnars led the Central Arkansas offense with 14 kills, while hitting .182 and digging 10 balls. Evie Grace Singleton had 13 kills and six digs, while Fulani Petties had 10 kills and four digs.


RICHARDSON, Texas — After falling behind two sets to one, the Hendrix College volleyball team came back to defeat Hardin-Simmons University 25-23, 17-25, 19-25, 25-15, 15-12 to close out the UT Dallas Labor Day Tournament on Saturday morning.

The Warriors (2-1) outhit the Cowgirls (1-2), who were receiving votes in the AVCA Preseason Top 25 Poll, .227 to .224 and had a 65-51 kills advantage. Hendrix also had five aces, 71 digs and seven blocks, while HSU had five aces, 64 digs and nine blocks.

Freshman right side Lauren Petrisin had 25 kills and hit .579 with seven digs. Freshman outside Bradi Ryan added 15 kills and sophomore MC Rogers had 11 and five blocks. Sophomore setter Allison Gaia tied her career-best with 41 assists to go with 10 digs for her fist double-double of the season.

Hendrix will play at home on Tuesday when they host Central Baptist College with a pair of matches beginning at 5 p.m.

Friday at the UT Dallas Labor Day tournament, the Warriors lost to UT Dallas, 25-22, 25-13, 28-26, 25-17, them beat East Texas Baptist University, 20-25, 25-22, 27-25, 25-17.

Against Dallas, sophomore outside hitter Rogers connected on a career-high 24 kills, while hitting .327 and compiling 11 digs and four blocks to lead the Warriors.

Against the Comets, who were receiving votes in the AVCA Preseason Top 25, Hendrix hit .184 with 53 kills, eight aces, 57 digs and eight blocks.

UTD hit .217 with 52 kills, two aces, 60 digs and six blocks.

Freshman Sara Dyslin had 15 kills and five blocks while hitting .480.


ITTA BENA, Miss. – The University of Central Arkansas women’s soccer team (2-0-1) routed Mississippi Valley State, 10-0, Friday.

Freshman Alex Moore earned her first career hat trick. Shelby Wilson and Peyton Reisch each had two goals, while Allie Coleman, Brooke Ballard, and Avery Taylor each scored once. Coleman and Ballard, along with MaKayla Wilson, also turned in an assist apiece.

Freshman Anna Hughes earned her second shutout of the season, making four saves while facing 12 shots.

The Bears will return to the field on Sunday afternoon, travelling to Jonesboro to take on Arkansas State.


The Hendrix College women’s soccer team lost 4-0 to the University of Texas at Tyler at Warrior Field on Saturday morning in the 2014 season opener.

The teams played 40 minutes of scoreless soccer on Friday night, but had to restart the game in the morning due to weather delays.

The visiting Patriots (1-0) outshot the Warriors (0-1) 24-9 overall and 13-3 on goal.


SEWANEE, Tenn. — The Hendrix men’s soccer team opened its season by playing to a scoreless draw on Saturday afternoon against Denison University in the Labor Day Classic hosted by Sewanee.

The University of the South. Eric Bracy finished with a 110-minute shutout, making six saves in the team’s season debut.
