Bears open Soutland Conference tournament against Islanders
SUGAR LAND, Texas — The University of Central Arkansas baseball team, losers of five of its last six games, will try to get on the winbning track Wednesday in the opener of the Southland Conference tournament.
The Bears (34-19), and the seventh seed, will make their second straight appearance in the tournament against second-seeded Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, a team they won two of three against during the regular season. The teams will play at noon Wednesday. The winner advances to face the winner of the Stephen F. Austin-Oral Roberts game at 4 p.m. Thursday. The loser will face the SFA-ORU loser at 9 a.m. Thursday in the double-elimination tournament.
The Bears are one victory away from tying the school record of 35 set in 1998 while at the NCAA Division II level.
