MEMPHIS — The Hendrix College men’s and women’s track and field teams began the outdoor season by competing at the Rhodes Invitational on Saturday.

The Warriors faced off against several NCAA Division III teams and a few DI and DII squads on a cold and rainy day.

For the women, junior Elizabeth Krug and three-time All-American tied her own school record in the pole vault with a third place mark of 3.20 meters (10 ft.-6 in.). She also placed ninth in the 200 meters in 26.82 and 11th in the 100 meters in 13.21 seconds. Krug placed 10th in the 100 meter hurdles in 16.58.

Senior Lindsey Wiggin threw the hammer 36.87 meters (120 ft.-11 in), placing 10th, and the shout put 10.09 meters (33 ft.-1.25 in.), finishing 13th. Sophomore Anna Jolliff was the Warriors’ top finisher in the 5,000 meters in 23:15.97, placing 17th. Senior Kelly Rappe’ was 29th in the mile in 6:12.36.

For the men, freshman Charlie Garcia placed 11th in the triple jump. He had the program’s second best Division III mark with a leap of 12.05 meters (39 ft.-6.5 in.). Garcia also took 18th in the long jump at 5.30 meters (17 ft.-4.75 in.).

Freshman Jordan Barrett recorded a pole vault at 3.82 meters (12 ft.-6.25 in.), placing fourth. Senior Andres Ramirez finished 14th in the 5k in 16:12.97. Senior Micah Cothren finished 15th in the mile in 4:43.17 and 20th in the 800 meter run in 2:07.13.

Senior sprinter Carlton Leding finished 20th in both the 100 (11.80 seconds) and 200 (23.90) meter dashes. Freshman Skyler Adams finished 25th in the shout put with a distance of 10.03 meters (32 ft.-11 in.).

Hendrix will be back in action next weekend at the University of Central Arkansas Open in Conway.
