The Hendrix College women’s basketball team lea by a point with 1:01 left to play, but could not hang on the lead, falling to Austin College 70-66 at Grove Gymnasium on Saturday evening.
Freshman forward Anna King paced Hendrix with 14 points and sophomore point guard Caitlin Krisel-Bigler had 13 points, five rebounds and three assists. Jamie Tate, a senior forward, had 12 points, 17 rebounds, three assists and a block. Freshman guard Taylor Neal added 12 points and junior guard Kati Broberg had eight.
In Memphis, the Warriors held off a late rally by Rust to take an 80-79 victory.
Drew Nickolovski led Hendrix with 17 points Will Rowland added 14. Luke Vance and Colton Primm had 13 each.
Hendrix will open Southern Athletic Association play on Wednesday when its hosts No. 20 Rhodes College at 6 p.m.
