Bryant Bethel took a 22-16 victory over Bob Courtway Middle School in eighth-grade football Thursday, handing the Kittens their first defeat in four games.
Demarion Johnson scored two touchdowns and ran for a 2-point conversion for BCMS. Raul Pena added an extra point.
"We had too many turnovers and a lot of penalties. Those two things are not positive against a good team and Bryant played very well," BCMS coach Terry Clardy said. "They won both of those areas. I have to do a better job of controlling the mistakes. Defensively we played well after making some adjustments and recovered two fumbles."
BCMS will face Catholic next Thursday at John McConnell Stadium.
