Bob Courtway Middle School improved to 5-2-1 in eighth-grade football Thursday with a 20-0 win over Benton.

Jeffery Thomas took the opening kickoff 72 yards for a touchdown. Demarion Johnson scored on a 42-yard run and on a 67-yard pass from quarterback Harold Ross. Raul Pena added two extra points.

"The defense plated great, coming up with two fumbles and two interceptions and holding Benton scoreless," BCMS coach Terry Clardy said. "We have intensified things in practice and these young men have responded with intense play."

Next week, BCMS plays its crosstown rival Carl Stuart.
