GREENBRIER — Vilonia took a 35-28 ninth-grade boys basketball victory over Greenbrier on Thursday.

After trailing by 15-4 in the first quarter, the Eagles pulled back to within 17-11 at halftime. Then, Jacob Greer came off the bench in the third quarter to help spark an Eagle run to tie it at 21 after three quarters. He continued his hot shooting with two more 3’s in the fourth quarter to help give the Eagles the lead. Hayden Weaver also provided help with six in the quarter. Greer led the Eagles in scoring with nine points, all in the second half. Weaver wound up with eight points and Nathan Taylor chipped in with six for the Eagles (1-9).

Greenbrier won the eighth-grade game 23-22. The Eagles (11-4) struggled to score inside against Greenbriers tough defense. During the game, the Eagles had to rely on Lucas Nicholson, who scored 16 points (including four 3-pointers) to help keep them in the game.
