CARLISLE — Hazen proved to be too much for the St. Joseph girls Wednesday in Class 2A-East Regional action, as the Lady Bulldogs fell 51-35.

Trailing 12-5 at the end of the first quarter, St. Joseph (15-15) trailed 20-9 going into halftime. Both teams kept that pace after three quarters (30-19), but the Lady Bulldogs had their best quarter in the fourth. However, Hazen did as well.

"We just got off to a slow start," St. Joseph coach Chris Kordsmeier said. "Hazen has a fine team. We had our chances and made a couple of good runs, but we just came up short."

Heather Moix led the Lady Bulldogs with 11 points and added eight rebounds. Amy Schichtl added nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Heather Dail had nine points and three assists. Courtney Briggler finished with six points and eight boards. Rebecca Moix finished with eight assists and four steals.

"I was proud of the girls and our season. We hung in there all year, and we played our best basketball at the end of the year.

"I was proud and thankful for our seniors."
