SEARCY — The St. Joseph volleyball team will take a third seed into the state tournament after defeating Nemo Vista 25-12, 18-25, 25-19, 25-17 in the third-place game of the district tournament.

Prior to that win, the Lady Bulldogs (19-7) fell to Conway Christian 17-25, 21-25, 21-25 in the semifinals.

"It’s not the seed we wanted, but twe gave ourselves a chance," St. Joseph coach Luke Davis said. "When you’re one of 16 in the state tournament, anything can happen. If the right team shows up, we can be a very tough 3 seed."

Courtney Briggler had 28 kills in the tournament to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Samantha Hoelzeman finished with 13. Madison Seiter and Rachel Briggler had 28 and 26 assists, respectively. Tori Carter had 28 digs, while Hoelzeman had 25.

Courtney Briggler added eight blocks, and Savannah Cooper had seven. Courtney Briggler, Rachel Briggler and Carter all had three aces.
