HOT SPRINGS —  Mayflower opened its baseball season Thursday night with a 20-1 romp over Hot Springs.

The Eagles scored in each inning except for the 5th and the only run came off an error in the fourth. Seven Mayflower pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts. The Eagles were led at the plate by Junior Ty Fowler with three hits and sophomores Trey Bradley and Michael Post with two hits each.  Also driving in runs for the Eagles were Derek Vickers, Jordan Burns, Titus Copeland and Jeremy Barnhart.

Mayflower won the JV game, 8-0. Austin Grundy had two his. Drew Duncan added a triple. Other players driving in runs were Justin Sewell, Jared Rippee and Justin Case.

The Eagles play Harding Academy on Monday, then open at home Tuesday against Bauxite.
