Vilonia’s Lady Eagles remained undefeated in seven games and won their second tournament title in the last two weeks last weekend.

In doing so, the Lady Eagles thumped defending 7A girls champion Cabot, 46-28, to take the girls championshp of the Cabot Pre-Holiday Tournament.

The weekend before, Vilonia won the title in the St. Joseph Classic.

Agaisnt Cabot, the Lady Eagles led 16-13 at the half. Then, junior point guard Audrey Moran scored 11 third-quarter points to spark Vilonia to a 33-19 lead after three quarters.

Moran led the Lady Eagles with 13 points. McKenzie Gray added 12 and Ashlyn Hightower nine.

The Lady Eagles will host Beebe on Tuesday night.


The Fort Smith Patriots edged the Faulkner County Falcons, 51-50, Saturday in homeschool basketball.

The Falcons missed two shots at the buzzer.

Carter Mayo led the Falcons with 17 points and Trent Wolf followed with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Rounding out the scoring were Hadan Phillips with seven, Mark Baker with five, Colton Ferrell with four and Grant Ragland with two points and seven assists.

The Falcons play the Saline County Warriors and the Cedarville Faith Crusaders this week. They travel to Springdale for tournament play this weekend.
